Since yesterday the battery on my Galaxy s-4 is only lasting a few hours instead of the couple of days it was lasting previously, I've also noticed that it's quite warm to the touch which is unusual, it appears as though there's something going on in the background which is munching up my battery life - has anybody got any clues why and how to stop this?
Put it in layman's terms please as this is my first smartphone and I've only had it less than two months, we're still getting to know each other.
I'm not using it any more than I have been hitherto.
Just going to put it on charge again, after just over 6 hours it was down to less than 34% and I've hardly used it today.

erything seems OK now, I've used 22% battery life in as many hours, yesterday I'd used 60+% in just over 6hrs!
The temperature is fine too.
Don't know what it was but it's cured all of a sudden.

There is definitely an app running in the background. Have you downloaded anything recently that coincides with the problem?
Look under settings, application manager and see what's running.
Also look under settings, Data usage and scroll down to see what's taking more battery juice.
I would also download Onavo from google play which will let you check where data drain is going.

Jonsie,
Thanks for this, I've done as suggested, how do I tell what's actully running as opposed to what's installed (I told you I was new to this)? All I can see is a list of applications with no indication of what's actually doing anything!
In terms of data usage, my top three are internet, Unified Daemon (whatever that is - sounds like something out of a Philip Pullman book), Google Play, the rest are small beer in comparison.
I have dowloaded some apps but that was before this started - how do you uninstall an ap?
