Galaxy Note 5 N920A

Can anyone confirm that an (Ex ATT) N920A version of the Galaxy Note 5 phone supports 3G on the 900Mhz band. If so is there a setting to enable it, or is there something about the O2 LTE network that might prevent it being used.

The specs* suggest it should, but I have one that has been flashed with Android 7.0. and I can't seem to get it to use 3G on 900Mhz. I live in a village where the local mast only offers 800 & 900 Mhz, but it is not clear what O2 offer on those frequencies.

I have  Note II which picks up a good 3G HSDPA signal, (UTMS : HOME(CS+PS)) signal on WDCMA  900 band 8. The Note 5 however gets a good 800Mhz band 20 LTE signal, but defaults to 2G GPRS (PGSM900) for voice calls. Forcing it to WCDMA results in no voice capability at all.

Taken to other places I can get a 3G WCDMA signal - but it seems to be only on the 2100Mhz band.

I am trying to work out if the problem is

a) the N920A doesn't support 3G on 900Mhz only on 2100Mhz

b) I have a bad N920A phone

c) there is a problem with Android 7.0 on this phone

d) There is soemthing wrong with the network settings on the phone

e) There is something about the local O2 mast that prevents an LTE capable phone from using 3G

My knowledge of the network, and particularly how 4G works is limited, and I am hoping someone (possibly someone who has a N920A Note 5) can provide either an answer, or pointers as to where else to look.

Regards

Thanks

That appears to differ from the specs, but certainly corresponds to the experience I am getting. Works great on 4G LTE, and makes and receives calls using the 4G network. Only sees 3G when I am within range of a 2100MHz mast.

Wonder if there is a hidden script to change the band selection as it  does handle 900MHz at hardware level.

I wouldn't believe the specs personally.
