GPRS Signal status

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have a HTC One S and it has only ever shown the following GPRS codes 'E' or 'G' even when I am in a 3G area. I queried this with the O2 live chat and they sent me some settings, unfortunately these were incorrect and wouldn't even set up an APN. SHould I get a 3G signal or is the G signal the same strength as the 3G signal so I will never see the 3G status. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

You should get 3G in a 3G enabled area. Have you got 3G turned on in your phone settings? Are you trying in a 3G area? Live chat should not have sent you any settings as your data connection is working (albeit not fully) so the apn settings are not at fault. Check in Settings >More >mobile Networks that Network mode is set to Auto and try somewhere you know that has a good 3G signal.

Thanks MI5, changed setting to auto and all ok, must admit I am pretty pee'd off with O2 shop in Chippenham as I went in there today and their 'guru' told me that g was the same as 3g and there was nothing wrong with my signal.

I certainly won't bother with the O2 chat or shop 'gurus' in future, I will just come straight on here, thanks again.

That's very poor from the shop and a very bad mistake, I would PM to Leonard about this so maybe they could take it up with them.
