Why has an active download icon appeared at the top of my Samsung Ace2? I am not downloading anything. How do I get rid of it?

Probably an app that has updated automatically. If you look in the notification area it will tell you which one.

Can you not drag it down to see what it is?

 

It could be just telling you something has updated.
