Can't download aps on my HTC Desire

Hey

I've got an HTC Desire A8181 and I'm on a sim-only monthly contract.
The phone was previously on Orange and is "hard wired" (or whatever you call it) for that, so some of the aps can't be removed.

Thing is, I can't seem to add any either ...

A week or so ago the handset had a little wobble and kept cutting out to the white screen, so I ended up doing a factory reset. I've got most of the functions back how I want them and it's been stable ever since, but there were two aps I used a lot: a notebook and a file manager.

I've been trying to download Catch Notes and although I follow all the steps on this website (and I've done it before anyway) it doesn't seem to be going anywhere, despite it saying it's downloading.

I've searched through all the folders while the handset is synced to my desktop, but to no avail. The ap isn't in the menu at all, either.

What's puzzling me is after pressing "INSTALL" and then "OK" once the box pops up to say the ap will download shortly, the address bar at the top doesn't change. I expect it to fill up with green as normal, but it doesn't: it just stays white, suggesting that it may not be connecting to the site at all.
I've tried using 3G and WIFI both at home and on my work network (a university) but neither makes any difference ...

Please can someone help me out and tell me what I'm doing wrong ?

Thanks for reading this slight_smile

I'm not technical enough to know why your phone isn't downloading those apps, but have your tried downloading somehting comparible from the Play store instead?

Having said that, have you tried downloading any apps from the store at all just to check the functionality is working within the phone?
