Can't connect to network. Galaxy Note 2

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all.

Since late night Saturday, I have been unable to send texts and calls on my phone, yet my mobile Internet is still working.

I have tried everything from putting it in flight mode, to cleaning the sim so I went to the o2 shop yesterday and the woman gave me a new phone and said it should work within 10 minutes. So I went back to work and came out at 9pm and still nothing!!

I have looked at the status of my phone and the IMEI number has changed??

It is also saying service state - out of service and ERI version not available.

Im not too sure what is going on to be honest.

I think maybe its probably my phone that has failed, but I've only had it for a month or 2 and everything was fine until last Saturday night.

Any help would be great!!

Thanks

I just realised that my IMEI actually hasn't changed.... I recently had my first galaxy note 2 stolen so I was looking at that number and comparing it to the one on my new phone. Silly me. The number is 355251059206979 and that looks pretty normal.

So now i'm not sure what is wrong! LOL

Yours is the third Note 2 that has failed this way this week. The others after updating to 4.1.2. It seems there is a serious bug and Samsung need to reconsider the roll out of this firmware. The problem appears to be the EFS file becomes corrupted (this is the files that holds your IMEI number). If you check your IMEI number now it will most likely be all zero's or be 004999010640000 which is a generic fall back number.

Ok, that's a bit of a relief... I though we'd got an epidemic on our hands wink

Have you checked that there is a signal in your area http://status.o2.co.uk/ Sometimes mast go offline for repairs etc....

Yep checked that, and it says network is running fine for my area.

When i try to connect to the network it says unable to connect try again later.

Also when I try to send a message it says 'currently unable to send your message. It will be sent when the service becomes available'.

A friend tried to ring me and it said 'This person is currently unable to take your call try again later'.

Its really strange why this is happening as my mobile internet is working great!

To be honest it's probably my phone slight_frown

Was it a new phone when you had it? From a shop or off eBay 😞 ?

I bought it off amazon... It appears to be new?

I don't think it's o2's fault to be honest... Im gonna get in contact with samsung and see what they say about it! And if all fails, hunt the person down who sold me it hehe.

Thanks for your help slight_smile

It should be OK if it came from Amazon. You get a 2 year warranty so I'd get in touch with Samsung and see what they say about getting it repaired.
