4.2.2 For HTC One X

Anonymous
Not applicable

Following Perksie's advice from the other similarly titled thread that has been listed as solved by someone, thought I'd open a new thread, so any HTC One X users can report on any correspondence they have with O2 about the roll-out of 4.2.2 to the HOX.

The last major update (to 4.1.1) left a lot of users disillusioned with O2 after conflicting answers from a variety of sources. If anyone can tell me how to post a link to that thread for reference I will. I will also copy and paste my comment from the other ('solved') thread below.

Let's hope O2 get it right this time.

@Toby & @Chiara, can you help us at all....?

I came back to stock because I was getting terrible battery life on the AOSP ROMs I preferred.

If you are going to root your phone I recommend Hasoon2000's tool on XDA:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904

You can use his tool to install a Sense ROM (looks like normal HOX software) or an AOSP ROM (more stock Android without the HTC overlay).

Of course you do this at your own risk. And you will lose *everything* on your phone - photos, game stats, etc., if you unlock your phone. So back up what you can before doing this.

If you haven't rooted/unlocked your phone yet, you might want to wait until you get the Sense 5 update. My wife has a HOX on Tesco and she got her update tonight - it looks nice.

That's what I used all in tool kit, I've tried a few different roms, aokp, aosp, names like ice cold jelly to avatar. You don't lose anything on your sdcard, it only touches certain partitions, if all instructions are followed, no problems

Hi 10rdan, yes you put zip file in sdcard, and unless your phone is s-off, you have to flash "boot.img" separate, be aware that most roms need a gapps file as well.

I tried using Hasoon's toolkit, but the bit where you press the button to install the GHTc drivers appeard to downlaod a .exe file, but i couldn't make it do anything. I think because of this my phone would then not enter the fastboot mood when the command prompt was telling it too. Think it all hangs on getting those drivers installed properly, but I don't understand why they would be different to the HTC drivers that run the HTC Sync Managaer etc...

Hello Mattye81... so along with the zipped Rom file you put the COMPLETE "flash_boot_8.x_0.1" file onto sd and ALSO need to, extract and, flash the "boot.img" through bootloader commands ? Thanks

Sorted, cheers. That's what I've been doing with wildfire and desire c but the zipped "flash_boot file" for HOX+ seemed to have a lot in it so just wondered if I had to put whole thing on sd. Thanks again.
