2nd failed repair on Samsung S4

Anonymous
Not applicable

Morning!

I've had a Samsung S4 since December and it's been a total disaster.  O2 have sent it off twice and both times it's come back "no fault detected" even though it switches off and doesn't come back on.

I've brought it into work with me today to take back to the O2 shop for a third attempt at repair, it's not in it's usual protective case on as they always take them off when they go for repair.

SODS LAW it has been scratched by my work keys Smiley Frustrated It has been so well looked after (despite nearly being thrown out of a window a few times!!!).  It looked brand new until today!

My question is, when it now goes off for the third repair will O2 say it looks like it's been dropped and therefore not give me a replacement?

I'm so bloody annoyed!!  Of all the things to get scratched in my bag!  The screen is absolutely perfect but there are 3 or 4 little scuffs along the silver rim around the top and bottom of the phone.

It'll be just my luck they'll now turn round and say it's been dropped and I'm stuck with it  😞

Just follow the correct repair process and the phone will be repaired or replaced by O2.... eventually !!

It depends on what the issue is normally.

Surface scratches should not be a problem as long as their is no impact damage etc.

O2 has a x3 repair policy where they will replace a handset but that's if the same issue arises that three times. They are saying their is no issue with it.

You may want to go through the manufactures support to possibly rectify the issue.

Just google for their homepage and follow the support links.

To add have you tried a hard reset.

http://www.hard-reset.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-hard-reset.html

Make a back up first if you can as this can delete saved data.

Possibly PC companion may help too.

Another help link.

Hey, sorry, I should have the said the original issue is that it keeps switching off and won't come back on, then by the time it's reached the o2 repair people apparently it's working fine!

Yes I tried the hard reset thing before anything else back in Dec/Jan.

I'm abit worried they'll now try and fob me off because of these scuffs. Do you think I should explain the scuffs when I take it into the shop later or say nothing about it?

The screen is absolutely fine.

I wish there was an easy fix, the battery looks fine so it shouldn't be that. It'll switch off 2 or 3 times in a row and after that will not come back on at all, whether I try a soft resest, take the battery out, plug it into it's charger etc etc

p.s. there is no need for back up as it's been off repair twice this month so there is literally nothing saved to it, and it only lasted 7 hours between me collecting it from the shop and it being completely dead again on Monday!!

Hi.

Yes mention them so they are logged.

And take pictures of the phone before submitting it to them.

Make sure they're time/date stamped or put it on that days newspaper.

Also make a note of the imei number.

Have you tried the Odin link or PC companion suggestion.

At first, I thought the battery spin test was a joke, Then I fathomed it must be something do with the weight determining the solidity and compliance of materials being used.

Indubitably true. Samsung S21 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra
