mobile internet data not working properly

I have a HTC one x plus phone and my mobile internet data doesnt work properly, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It also says I have no service when I cant access my mobile data.
I have spoken to an o2 guru online and followed all the advice they have given me.
I can only use the internet on wi-fi.

Would be very grateful if someone called help me

I was getting some connection but so slow it was useless.  The problem was that network mode, under mobile network settings, was set to GSM only.   By setting this to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto I now have mobile internet working well.
