Not receiving texts, dead end with O2 thus far

Anonymous
Not applicable

I'm not receiving text messages on my previous Samsung Galaxy S6 and now on my Samsung Galaxy S7. I've gone through as many troubleshooting ideas as I possibly can, which includes...

New SIM

New phone (it was an excuse to upgrade)

Factory resets

Changing messaging apps

Ensuring correct message center numbers are in place

Redownloading settings from 2020

Clearing every cache known to man

Of course, I don't actually know what texts I'm not receiving, as I'm not receiving them, but it *appears* as if texts messages from shortcode numbers (i.e. O2 telling me 'Welcome to Croatia/Spain/Germany/etc.) whereas 'normal' messages are absent.

I've spoken in store to Gurus, had chats online, escalated things to second level support, yet still I've got an unreliable text service. Today I was, once again, assured that any problems were resolved and, for a short time, some messages arrived. Then they stopped again. My son, wife and some friends have been texting me on purpose today, from multiple network providers (Three, Vodafone and O2) and I've received maybe 10% of the messages.

It's not related to location - I move around a lot and don't get messages wherever I am, including multiple countries.

As I've had new SIMs and a new phone, I'd be incredibly surprised if it was my hardware, which leaves an issue on O2s side.

Any ideas?

I agree that it's an o2 issue.
If they can't fix it, move networks!

So maybe get the S7 unlocked (unless it is already) and try some PAYG sims from other networks and see what works best for you... @Anonymous?

I wish switching networks was quite that easy - I'm an an odd spot where O2 seemingly has an almost perfect signal, while everybody else struggles. I've tried PAYG SIMs from other networks and not had a useable service 😞

You seem to be between a 'rock and a hard place' then @Anonymous Not sure what your next move should be... other than making a complaint...http://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

It wont improve your service but you may be offered a goodwill gesture...
