I want to cancel my current sim only contract as my contract has expired. I have seen a sim only deal on a comparison site with O2 for £8 a month with 10GB data with unlimited calls and text which I intend to purchase so can you cancel my current sim only contract

You need to buy your new contract then call O2 to migrate your number to the new contract. That will end your old one and ensure you keep your number.
