Where are you holidaying? In the Europe Zone, no fees for txt, outgoing or incoming calls. Anywhere else, incoming calls are free with one of the 2 travel Bolt-ons. Roaming should be disabled in your phone to ensure no fees, with WiFi being the only data you use (WhatsApp works fine in this state fir both voice and text messaging, but both parties need to use it).

Also make sure this feature is not enabled: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205296
