Headline : Microsoft headset to help blind people navigate cities.

Excerpt from the Link : "A headset that talks visually impaired people around cities has been designed by Microsoft.

It works with a Windows phone and uses location and navigation data with a network of information beacons in urban locations to describe routes.

The headset was tested on a journey from Reading to London, including shopping, bus and train travel."

"The charity Guide Dogs, which helped develop the technology, said it could help improve life's"

My thoughts :

A fantastic news item that shows how innovative technology can help people in their daily life's.

As you know I will always comment on medical innovation...

I am absolutely delighted to read of this one....Anything that helps the visually impaired lead a next to normal life, gets my vote...

I am pleased that although this was trialled by a BBC reporter who was blindfolded....(a very very different experience from being truly blind)  the report went on to indicate real visually impaired people had been trialling this for weeks.

Apparently the design has been linked to a headset which is currently on the market for cyclists

Something to give hope for the future I think.....

After I read this...I watched this mornings BBC news. They were talking to a 24 year old lass who has been blind since birth.

She said she felt so much more confident walking around now...

Lovely to watch..
