Connection problems 5g

my phone keeps switching from 4g/5g to edge connection and won't connect to anything, the only way I can get it to switch back is to go into the settings and manually select the 5g network!!! This lasts for a while and then it will switch back again it does this several times a day! It's incredibly annoying, any advice with this? Before someone says it, I am in an area I have had 5g consistently before hand and only recently has it started swapping down to edge! Thank you
