Hello,

I'm trying to use my UK phone while abroad in the United States, and this has worked for the last nine years. I can receive text messages from the UK, but no matter what I do, I cannot place a call to the UK. I can't receive calls from the UK, either. (I receive notifications that I got a voicemail, but I cannot actually access the voice mail.) The live chat assistant couldn't help. Any ideas?

If you have WhatsApp and a Wi-Fi connection you can call other WhatsApp users in the UK, or anywhere else for that matter for free.

If you are on PAYG then you are screwed as you need to be able to use 4G Calling which isnt supported on PAYG..

Thank you so much, this is all very helpful! I am indeed on the Standard PAYG Ultra Tariff. Can I use any of the Bolt Ons or do I have to wait until I get back to the UK in September? I have Aphasia and find it very hard to navigate.

I would go to a local T Mobile store and get a local sim card, as there is. no physical way for anyone at o2 to add 4G Calling to a PAYG Account sorry to say.
