call barring on iphone setting/code? (network or sim error)

can anyone be able to help with this plz when trying to call from abroad to home it comes with call barring on but when i search for it on iphone there isnt a setting for it on settings, when i used the *33*then 0000 to see the settings it comes up with sim error. is it an easy fix?

Do you live in the UK?

If so the number you call needs to have 00 44 then drop the 0 from the first part of the number.

i currently live abroad but with a uk number tryimng to call back to parents in the uk

we have been abroad for about 4 months but this is the first time we have had this problem. we are pay as you go customers with balance in our phones

Where abouts?

Have any of your local networks closed down 3G. (Many are by the end of this year)

Try a different network or see if you can select 2G only in the network type

@Jing The country code to call the UK from abroad is +44. Download WhatsApp and have the people you're calling in the UK download it too. You can then call if you use a Wi-Fi connection for free to any WhatsApp user. Texts and video calls are free too.

we are currently living in China but in the past we have been able to phone or message in/out with UK numbers. i believe that we are on 4G here at least but i can be wrong

I think its more likely that O2 are cutting your service as you have exceeded the time limit for being abroad.

If in EU its free roaming up to 63 days. They are implementing the same rule in January for the rest of the world.

As I said, check the link I gave and scroll down to Roaming.

We have seen at least 2 people who have had the same issue as yourself and are in countries classed as the the rest of the world.

It would appear they are starting this rule early!

ive tried that as well its just that we need to txt/call from the mobile every 6 months to keep the numbers.

You said you were PAYG. But PAYG SIM cards can't make calls over 4G

@Jing Further info to my earlier post. I've taken a look and WhatsApp use in China is restricted to texts only, I believe. Alternatively, you and the people you want to reach in the UK can use Skype over Wi-Fi for free:

Skype is only free for freephone numbers and doesn't satisfy the chargeable call every 6 months requirement.

Skype to Skype over a Wi-Fi connection is free whether you use it on a phone or a laptop or a desktop.
