The OP mentioned "my phone isn't connecting to a network" and thus unable to roam.

That's either a local network issue or an account/SIM one. Manually cycling through all available local networks is definitely wise and should form part of troubleshooting.

It would also help to know whether this SIM has been used outside the UK previously, and thus roaming enabled.

The OP mentioned "my phone isn't connecting to a network" and thus unable to roam.

Hence the suggestion to manually search for other networks.

Experience tells us that alternating between T Mobile and AT&T yields favourable results.

Having checked that data roaming is on, answers any subsequent questions regarding data use, once a network connection is established.
