IPv6 availability

Hi!

I am trying to access an IPv6 only site but can't due to my phone not getting an IPv6 address while off WiFi.

Verified that by going to whatismyipaddress.com; IPv6 was shown as "Not detected".

On home WiFi, I can get an IPv6 address, and I am suddenly able to access said site.

How can I obtain an IPv6 while on mobile data? Samsung S23 Ultra

I doubt that O2 supports iPV6 across the network so as a workaround you could use a VPN such as NordVPN which does support iPV6

o2 do not support IPv6, and to make things worse they also use CGNAT...

Its best to use a IPv6 VPN, or to make it more secure build your own in Azure or Linode etc..

Resorted to having a Debian 11 Linode with IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and 6tunnel installed, used with a free tunnel from an IPv6 tunnel broker (I used Hurricane Electric).

$100 Linode credit from youtubers' referrals, $5/month for the node, should last 20 months. Enough for carrier to come to their senses, or for my contract to run out and jump over to EE.

Introduces a number of hops, but should tide me over.

You are probably better looking at one of the Niche MVNO's as most MNO's either don't support it or use CGNAT, which means you won't get a IPv6 Public IP..

Any updates from O2 on IPv6 support?
This is causing frustration and it is disappointing that it still isn't supported.

o2 do not support IPv6, unless you have your own Private APN which means you route all mobile traffic through your own network infrastructure.. and you provide the external IP and you do the iPv4 translation

I am trying to think of a mobile network that does for consumer access and the only one who was reported as starting was Vodafone. @XuluW

Not the sort of thing we humble members here would be informed about.

Virgin Media, the other part of the joint venture does not support it yet and I would expect them to be first.
