Not sure if O2 do such a thing. People usually buy them elsewhere then port in.

You can always pick one up off 1p Mobile and port it in to O2 or you could look at eBay

Yeah, I hear you. most of those providers have similar kind of prices. Any suggestions for more wallet-friendly options?

A custom phone number is a total waste of money. Once you give the number to someone they put it in their phone and the name comes up when that number calls someone, not the number, so what's the point? A car registration is different. At least you can see it and you can sell it on. I sold my car reg. that I had transferred onto 5 different cars over 30 years a few years ago for a lot of money.
