Coverage in Jersey, Channel Islands

I migrated to O2 from Virgin Mobile earlier this year.

With Virgin Mobile I was unable to get coverage when on holiday in Jersey. Will my O2 SIM now allow me to use my phone when I'm roaming in Jersey?

Yes, you can use your allowances up to 25gb of data.

I understand about the allowance, however I was wondering about coverage.

When I had Virgin mobile I could only use my phone in the hotel using their wifi/internet. Outside the hotel I was unable to connect to anything via 4g.

So I was wondering if O2 coverage in Jersey would be different and I could get coverage via 4g when I was out and about?

Yes, you should be able to use your data the same as at home.

It was a side effect of Virgin using a Belgian SIM. The SIM thought IOM and the CI's were UK and you were not roaming whereas the networks saw the opposite. It particularly effected iPhones.

Virgin knew about this for a long time and categorically denied this was the case. However, they finally admitted it around six months ago.

If you could connect, Virgin charged for roaming, O2 don't

I spent some time in Jersey in 2018. I bought a PAYG SIM from Jersey Telecom (JT) and 4G coverage was good in the vicinity of the airport, in St Helier and in other urban areas. It was inconsistent in rural areas, but no different to my experiences in the UK.
