It could be related to the merger of VM and O2 if you are a Virgin Media Broadband customer, @Aims32 - equally it could be one of the many SPAM actors trying to get you to click a rogue link in a moment of panic - hard to tell without seeing the message, alas. This guide may help you determine which it is:

<LI-PRODUCT title="Phishing, Smishing & Scams. Latest info & advice." id="Guide083"></LI-PRODUCT>

As O2 rarely admit or deny anything, and you have no active contract with them now, they could have fobbed you off with any old answer, sad to say. Contacting O2 via Social Media, links in <LI-PRODUCT title="Guide: How to find help & contact O2" id="Guide058"></LI-PRODUCT> may reassure you - keep at them until you are satisfied.

Good luck!

I left o2 over a year ago due to having problem after problem and never having a resolution. Now I’ve received a message saying my order has gone through, I’m not with o2 and have had a panic someone is trying to access my account to place an order. I’ve contacted o2 by phone and they said the order number isn’t valid and ‘not to worry’ but they couldn’t tell me why I received this message (another reason why I left was because I had an ongoing problem for months and months and was told it’s being looked into and it never was) anyway after looking into it I believe it may be due to the switch with virgin and o2 joining and it’s a system error message? I just want someone to be able to say yes it’s an error rather than ‘we don’t know’ or ‘ I don’t think someone is using your details’

Thank you for your reply! Really appreciate it. It’s definitely from o2 as the last message I had previously was confirming me leaving and account closing in May 2024 and the message received today was from the same text message trail. Thanks again
