Even on a top end phone they dont give you anything its all claim through the manufacturer, and defo not on an iPhone..

I do wonder as well where this number has come from, as it sounds like the op called a random number and gave details to the person on the end of the phone and thus sorry to say is completely liable for any loss...

Its a hard lesson to learn..

Hi there, my bill was generated today with the cost of the Disney + plan. I don't watch Disney + so called 02 for them to cancel and see if they can adjust my bill. The advisor said he would do so. He then said because they have overcharged they would send me a gift - the Samsung A9 tab. I was reluctant as I already have an iPad and a Pixel phone. I don't need another gadget. But he insisted. I was on a 2 year plan - expires 2027 costing £16.99.

Emails and text messages came in after the call.

My contract has been changed - I've got a new contract at £26.99 with an increase of data because I'm also a virgin media customer.

A new contract for an iPhone which has been credited (so zero balance) - £1002 and, a Samsung A9 tablet in the post - coming tomorrow!!!

Is this a scam?

I've not asked for any of this!!!

What should I do?

I'll be calling 02 first thing tomorrow!

If you called them using 202 or similar, not a scam as such but VMO2 upselling you something to earn their commission. I did not do this and it's an email address I do not know!!

If it's a scam how have they managed to take over the whole operation of O2/Virgin Media - sending out a phone, tracking with DPD...

Massive security breach with the 02/Virgin systems!!

Where did you happen upon that phone number, @JSmith123? As advised by @MI5 above, act quickly and calmly today and hopefully the damage can be minimised.

And check the credentials of any delivery agent or courier who may be sent to you if O2 say to accept and subsequently return the items - O2 should be able to cancel the delivery before it is dispatched, but sometimes they are slow to do that, and a fake agent is sent to your address to collect them, disappearing off into the sunset with a new phone and tablet.

https://www.o2.co.uk/help/safety-and-security/fraud-scams-and-unwanted-calls/scams-and-fraud

<LI-PRODUCT title="Phishing, Smishing & Scams.
