I have an Iphone (1st genration-yes! first generation). All was well, until recently. I now cannot send mail on the 02 server. I get the message: cannot connect to smtp_02 server. I can send mail at home via my ntl wi-fi, but not when I am out. I recently changed my loggin details for the 02 website. Do I need to change these in the mail settings on my phone too? Or what?

Yes, the phone needs the same settings that the server sees when your on your PC. It's your outgoing server that is reportin the issue so make sure your email and password are correct in outgoing settings.
