I need to turn off find my iPhone on a device but due to the damage I am starting the claim for I cannot turn the phone on and therefore cannot turn find my iPhone off.

You need to check with the insurance company as they are the only ones who can advise.

To turn off Find My iPhone without your phone, you can remove the device from your iCloud account on a computer:

Go to icloud.com/find
Sign in to your Apple account
Select All Devices
Choose the device you want to remove
Click Remove This Device
Click Remove in the dialog box

Enter your Apple ID password to confirm

Click Remove Device
