Apple Watch family share

Hi,

I just bought an Apple Watch SE gen2 from o2 for my son who doesn’t own an iPhone. I was told he could use it on family share, but it turned out that on family share he couldn’t use the data plan.
We were then told by o2 that this Watch needed to be mine and that if I got another Apple Watch from o2 with a data plan then I could add this second one as a family share Watch and he could use the data plan. Alas, I tried doing this last night and when setting up this second watch on family share, it said that I can’t add data plan to it. I’ve got absolutely no idea what to do. Can anyone shed any light on whether it is possible to use family share with a data plan when my son doesn’t have an iPhone? If it can be done, how can it be done?

I think the people to contact would be Sales on their direct number

you can call them on 0800 081 0255

The opening times are:
Monday to Friday – 8am to 8pm
Saturday – 8am to 6pm
Sunday – 9am to 6pm

Same problem here - bought an Apple Watch SE for child to use on family share only to find out it can’t get cell service to use when away from my phone. Frustrating!
