Use of Australian sim

Okay so here goes. In the UK I purchased an iPhone 6 from cexchange which was locked to O2. I knew that my gift gaff sim would work in it so I bought the phone. The giff gaff sim has an o2 number on it which was transferred from an iPhone 5c when I previously held a o2 contract. Now I’m over in Australia and have started a contract with a company called Optus. Upon entering my sim it says that it’s locked - in essence I need o2 to unlock the phone so I can use this overseas sim. I don’t have any o2 login details, so I can’t get them to do it that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
