O2 have recently announced they are discontinuing using the Tu Go app. As regards my android phone this is not a problem as O2 imply I will be able to make wi-fi calls via a firmware upgrade. However, I find Tu Go useful on my iPad. It's a non-SIM iPad running iOS 11.x.

On iPad I know that there are alternative text apps like Apple's native Messages and Facebook's Messenger. Trouble with these are that the person you're texting must have these apps. With Tu Go they just had to have a phone number.

Any suggestions?

Dave

There is nothing out there that does what TU does..

If if it's merely the texts from iPad or PC then you can get apps installed on both phone and iPad/PC which sync and let you text and make calls such as MightyText and mysms which work great on Android but I'm not sure if these particular two are available on iOS.

I would recommend checking the list of approved phones to make sure you can get WiFi calling.

Link here: https://www.o2.co.uk/connectivity/wifi-and-4g-calling

You also need to have purchased your phone directly from o2 otherwise it will not work even if it is on the list.
