Text alert sounds

Does anyone know if it's possible to turn off text alert sounds on an iPhone 6 without silencing the phone? I've finally managed to set the phone so only certain people can contact me but I'm still getting the text alert 'ding' when I receive a text and the 'swoosh' when I send one.

I'm sure I could do it on my Galaxy S3 and my husband can do it on his Note 3 but I can't work out if it's possible on the iPhone.

Hi there,

Try this and lets us know if it worked

Step 1

Tap the "Settings" app.

Step 2

Select the "Sounds" option.

Step 3

Choose the "Text Tone" setting and tap "None."

Step 4

Set the "Vibration" option to "None" if you want to disable the vibrate feature as well. You can also select a different vibration pattern, if desired.

Right I am now extremely embarrassed as I didn't see 'none' when I looked this morning! It's now silent - thank you Rosadoc!
