Hi
I've tried getting more information on this subject but there seems to be a lot of conflicting information.
I'm in two minds weather to purchase applecare+ or stay with the policy with my bank.
My bank doesn't cover liquid damage but covers accidental and theft. I know AppleCare doesn't support theft or loss but I can't find any information on weather it covers water damage.
Does anybody on here know the answer to this or is there anything that another provider that may cover these. The advantage with Apple is you can walk in and have the phone replaced which I've only ever done once and to be honest can't complain. I've never had the need to claim from the policy with my bank so am thinking which will be the best route to take.
Thanks in advance guys
Ash

A Google search brought this link up. I think this site is very good for iPhone users, and will answer your query.

http://www.imore.com/iphone-applecare-buyers-guide

The prices are in US dollars, but I'm reasonably sure the same would apply to the UK.

Yes it covers two incident of accidental damage with an excess of £55 each time.

To be honest as you have to pay for apple care + in a one off payment which has to be taken out within 90 days (I think) I would stick with your bank if their excess fee is £100 or below.

With protect your bubble if your paying monthly payments and you want to claim you then have to first pay up the rest of the year payments and then they replace the phone with a similar aged one. Ie if your phones 8 months old they'll replace it with a similar aged phone. (That was the last time I looked so please re check their small print T&C if your interested in them or any others. )

Advantage of AppleCare+ is that you can get a replacement at a genius bar appointment the same day. Some bank accounts can have a lengthy claim process for their mobile insurance. It also extends the warranty by a year which is another plus

My other half damaged the pins in her lightning port so it wouldn't plug in to charge any more. AppleCare+ had me walking out with a replacement the same day

I'm pretty sure liquid damage is covered. Obviously theft or loss isn't but if you have home contents you could look at seeing if you could get it covered on that. Ours are covered on home contents too but we'll claim on AppleCare+ for damage due to the speed of replacements and to preserve our no claims discount

I think applecare+ does sound like the best option if they do cover liquid damage as band of brothers has posted(thank you) I was on moneysavingexpert site and someone recommended https://www.insurance2go.co.uk/iphone-insurance/ this company it looks like they cover every thing from day one and is actually cheaper than most. Will try and get more info on their reviews. On paper they seem the best option. My neighbour has just told me his insured through his current account and it was 3 weeks before they replaced his iPhone. To be honest you don't really want to be waiting that long. I'm thinking of getting the AppleCare plus and as the bank insurance is part of the current account do it that way
Thanks guys

Sounds good.

I nearly took on ProtectMyBubble until I looked at the small print ref paying it up if paying by monthly instalments ,and that they replace phones with a similar aged one. Not new. (It may have changed now)

I wondered where they'd get say an 8 month old iPhone from to supply !

Good to hear your happy with your choice. 😄

Now with Insurance2go it says they will get you to send the handset to get repaired but if it can't be repaired then they will replace with either a refurbished or new handset depending. And that sometimes colour may be compromised

No excess and a replacement phone as quickly as possibly.

Please note this is a bonus type account...only eligible for long term customers.. So there are some benefits to getting older it seems...:smileywink:
