No microphone icon in text box

hi can anybody help with this? Since downloading ios8, I don't have the microphone icon in the txt box that's supposed to be there. I can't finger an option to turn it on anywhere. I'm still on my iPhone 5 till the end of the month, my mates 4s has it, so don't understand why it's not appeared on mine, and help would be greatly appreciated.

It only works when sending to someone on iMessage I think.

I have it on mine next to the space bar on the iOS 8 stock keyboard.

Holding the Top Sleep/Wake Button and Home Button until the Apple Logo appears, and then let go of both. Your iPhone will reset

And or Settings, general , reset , reset all settings.

I've tried holding the sleep and home button, and Siri is turned on. Not tried resetting all the settings though, I'm really baffled now to be honest haha!

Very baffling.

You may have to perform a restore !

On the bottom bar of the keyboard you should have :

123/ABC Button.
Smily Face Button.
Microphone Button.
Space bar Button.
Return Button.

Finally done it, turned it off again, and it's now back. Thanks for your help guys.

Sorry scratch that, it's the microphone that's always been there, just to dictate the text. I can't get the one on the right, my mates just tried to send me a voice txt and it won't send either, there is deffo something wrong, don't know what to do.

That's only in iMessage as it works over a data connection.

If you notice in the link ref the instructional pictures the messages are Blue which means they are imessages.
