Terrible news that P4U has gone into administration but does this mean that all pre-orders for the 6 have been lost?

In an administration it is likely that anyone who has paid a deposit for a sim free handset will join the list of creditors.

According to the telegraph report mobile contracts are unaffected but in reality it has yet to be decided whether upgrades and new contracts yet to be fulfilled will be honoured.

Dreadful news for 5596 employees and shows the ruthless world we are in.

Of course the mobile operators will likely blame the Regulators for forcing down costs to us customers and therefore reducing profits. BC Partners were looking at referring the matter to the OFT for a referral to the Competition Commission.

Expect contract prices to rise next year.

EE pulled out Friday night apparently....
Despite what we all thought of P4U this is not good from a competition point of view 😞

Really sad for the employees right now. Maybe someone who has pre-ordered an iphone 6 can keep us upto speed with any details they get or find out.

Absolutely terrible news. Regardless of their selling techniques, another once "great" company down the tubes. EE pulled out about a fortnight ago, but not much known out with the industry.

Lots of people will blame the networks for pulling out, but blame lies solely with Apple and Samsung for ramping up handset costs.

@Anonymous thats where you assume wrongly, I haven't even ordered a phone from P4U but Im sure alot of other people have spent their hard earned money on iphones and would like to know if they are goin to be out of pocket themselves. Hope that tidies things up for you.

Right now my thoughts are with 5596 employees who this morning were merrily going about their usual ways, loving their lives as they see fit, but tomorrow morning they are likely to be advised to contact the jobcentre through no fault of their own. Until recently they worked for a strong business and had some form of job security.

My thoughts are with them. If that means some people don't get a shiny new mobile phone next week well sorry but crap happens.

I do sympathise with the employess, I too have been a victim of a firm going into liquidation and it's truly awful. I'm sure however that on Friday night none of them had a feeling of job security. Rumours have been rife for months and they could all see this coming but hoping on hope that someone would buy the company and ensure job continuity. It will have been discussed openly amongst them and you can be sure that many would have been actively seeking alternate employment and putting feelers out. It doesn't lessen the shock and worry when it does finally happen though.
