Using more data than normal

Hi
I have an iPhone 4s I have on my plan 1gb of data and have never gone over this in over a year everytime I use Facebook recently it swallows my data I have had to buy 600mb bolt on in three days and I'm only browsing news feeds for a few minutes at a time any ideas??

If it's just facebook check the app settings and turn off video autoplay or set it to on WiFi only.

Check in settings , mobile and look at the bottom where all the apps are ,and each shows what apps are using what data.

Although you do need to reset the statistics at your anniversary date For your allowances.

If you have wifi at home try turning off 'mobile data' in the phones settings to stop it flicking from wifi to data which happens to save battery power.

Obviously remember to re enable it when leaving wifi range.

Just browsing news feed on FaceBook shouldn't use a large amount of data....... ?

Well as they have already stated it's facebook I'm pretty sure they would welcome any further advice regarding the facebook app.....?

I have had the same issue with Android and Facebook. The app uses up a huge amount of space and ram (and that on my Note 3). Last time i looked it was about 185mb.

The auto play of video is definitely an issue but can be turned off.

Facebook also uses around 6% of my battery too.

Nothing wrong with thinking outside the box and providing a way to let them check if something else is using the data via the inbuilt data counter.

anyway keys not hijack the thread with this.

Let's hope the advice given assists.

Hi everyone thanks for replies I have now turned my auto play in videos off and hopefully that'll help but we will see.

It's really annoying that Facebook set the default level to ON for that feature - It really should be OFF by default.

Couldn't agree more MI5

As you know on the iPhone I cannot just delete the accrued data in an App. I have to delete the whole App and re download. When I do this with Facebook I tend to forget to go back into the apps settings and toggle auto play off or just choose play on wifi only. 😞

They did it obviously so that people would know about it but it really is annoying I agree. Made so much worse by the never ending amount of ice bucket videos which thankfully seem to have died a death amongst my group of 'friends'.

Once you've done the ice bucket once you don't do it again
Just gotta wait for all your friends to get through it (or just unfriend everyone)
