O2 now unlocking iPhone 5S

Hey,

Just a heads up that O2 are now unlocking the iPhone 5S. I bought my 5S brand new from eBay but locked to O2.

I ordered a free O2 PAYG SIM online and topped it up £20. I popped it into my 5S and made a few calls, then filled out the unlock request form on the O2 website.

The first 2 times I received an email from O2 saying that the phone number wasn't registered with the IMEI number, but the 3rd time trying I received an email saying that the unlock was successful.

Hi and Welcome to the forum.

There has been some who have advised after paying off the phone plan on refresh then O2 would unlock the iPhone 5s.

I've not seen any info on the site about unlocking versions on payg so it may be hit and miss at the moment.

Glad you got yours unlocked.

Hi guys, here's some clarification

As before, O2 is not currently unlocking iPhone 5s/ 5c for PAYG and PAYM members. You can find all info on O2 unlocking via the below link:

If you’ve got a business contract, I’d suggest speaking to your account manager. They’ll review it on a case-by-case basis keeping in mind all the factors before a decision is made.

If anything changes with the above, I'll update the community

The unlocking service is now available with iPhone 5s for members on Pay and Go, Pay Monthly and Refresh.

Sorry for the confusion around this, it was a very recent change
