Unlocking iPhone 5

When will O2 allow me to unlock my iPhone 5 as I am abroad a great deal and it would be much easier for me to pop a foreign SIM into my handset so I can make calls locally when I'm in Italy or Spain. I am on an o2 contract but O2 will not allow me to unlock my handset as it is the iPhone 5. Please can I have an update on when this will be made available as this is currently costing me a fortune in calls when away.

All we know is that it is not being unlocked at this time.

One of the reasons I bought my ip5 sim free.

Like the other reply said keep an eye on the links. I would hazzard a bet of 6 months !!
