World 🌎 BOOK DAY

World book day

At the top of the hill above our town is a little local Library. This sweet Library is quite small but has a big heart. Kept open by local resident volunteers who share each day and keep open for everyone to enjoy. It has a small computer area too. It joins with the larger Library in town which is about 2 miles away. Local residents keep the garden around the Library tidy and plant daffodils which are making an appearance now.

The (W) RVS deliver books to residents who cannot get to the Library.

I don't read as much as I should but I do enjoy an audio book and these are available too.

The Library are choosing a couple of books and an audio book for me arriving Friday this is so exciting as I could not choose!

Love your Library it is so important keeps the community together and the children love the new books too.

I love reading. I can get through 2-3 books a week.

Not keen on audio books but they do have a great purpose for many members of society.

Re World Book day, I've seen some lovely pictures of family and friends children dressed up for school today.

I read all sorts of books. Psychological thrillers, autobiographies etc.

I love Stephen King, Nora Roberts, Colleen Hoover and many others.

Once read, I share books with friends and neighbours. Then they go to charity shops.

Libraries are so important to the community. At one time the council were considering closing ours but a petition stopped that and now it's classed as a Library and Information Centre.

It offers free Wifi and use of computers. A department for children to read or make crafts.

There's no mobile facility though.

That's a lovely Library story, just like our Library the Council said they couldn't support it anymore. No one was going to let this little Library close. Recently we had a large donation to repair the structure, so all is made good, it is a semi-wooden structure and sits in a small woodland setting.

I remember you saying that you read a lot of books.

I used to buy books from the charity shops such a good buy.

Lots of the schools are celebrating World book day.

What is great value @TallTrees is the ability to use your local library service's digital offerings. Fiction and non-fiction books, newspaper, magazines and all free of charge ! PressReader and Overdrive's Libby app - they save me a fortune.

I don't use audiobooks but I listen to plenty of podcasts. 👍

Good to hear your story. Thank you.

It is good to pop into Library and read newspapers and magazines.

I was surprised to know that the Library still provides audio books. These help people with poor sight and gives some choice of book title.

ebooks are available too.

Have to keep in mind of course that many people still are not up with the computer.

Some like to browse the books on the shelves or chat about new titles at the library too. 🤔

What a good topic @TallTrees , thank you.

Our town library has managed to rejuvenate itself. A traditional old oak interior with a reference section, newspapers and computers upstairs. I had need to go there recently for some help and it was a wonderful atmosphere = part community hub, part children's reading downstairs. No way could I climb the stairs to see there.

I have been referred to the library 'at home'. A volunteer service. 4 books per month on subjects you are interested in. Really enjoyed a 'John le Carre' spy novel.

I generally get my books off Amazon then pass them onto a local cat charity for fundraising.

I have tried Kindle & Audio but books but they don't suit me.
