Advanced notice - new word game starts next Tues - 11 July 2023

Next Tuesday, 11 July 2023, sees the first of a brand new word game on Off Topic...

WORDS ENDING GAME

Each game will feature three letters in the following format

[for example] ___________________ I O N

The aim of the game is to find the number of four [4] to ten [10] letter words in the list [in source used],

by adding one [1] to seven [7] letters in front of the given three letters - to form four [4] to ten [10] letter word.

[e.g. in example given = add three letter N A T to form 6 letter word - NATION - but player has simply to give the word not the explanation].

Each word in the list will score 1 point.

Each word not in the list will score 1 point + 1 bonus point.

The game will run from 09.00am to 21.00 [9pm] to give those who are working or have commitments to join in at any time and take part after work or later.

The game will close at 9.00pm when words in the list which have not been found will be given.

A "league table" of players and their scores will be given...

for example -

No 1 - player A = 20 [words in list - 10 points; + words not in list 5 points + 5 bonus points].

RULES

Each player may post two words in each post.

Player must wait until another player posts before posting again.

TEN MINUTE RULE - if no-one has posted for 10 mins, player may post again BUT if player posts BEFORE

10 mins then reply will be given but player will NOT receive points.

One [1] to seven [7] letters must be posted in front of given three [3] letters to form 4 to 10 letter word.

note - adding more than 7 letters to form word of more than 10 letters is not allowed.

Letters cannot be added after the given letters.

The order of the given letters cannot be changed.

There will be no star for being faster finger and getting first word; and no trophy for sneaking in at the end and getting last word in the list.

I hope our resident wordsmiths who took part in previous Word Hunt Diamond [WHD] games will join in with this new WORDS ENDING GAME [WEG] inc

Interesting concept, @Mi-Amigo - so in your example,

SATISFACTION - no score

REDACTION - scores 1

Then 10mins to wait, or heckle another wordsmith 😉😂

Can't guarantee the 30+ degree heat won't hamper my guessing, though 😁

Well there's a turn up for the books! What an excellent idea. (I think) 😂

So to check, including YOUR last 3 letters, the words can be 6 letters ie NATION or up to10 letters ie PRODUCTION? Or indeed LION (where I have just added ONE letter??) OR UNION where I have added 2 letters?

We can post two words at a time BUT have to wait until someone else posts OR wait 10 mins??

I do like the idea of a bonus point if we post a word NOT on your list.

Pleased you like the game, and yes you`ve got it...

In your examples, adding 7 letters to form 10-letter PRODUCTION; adding 1 letter to form 4-letter LION; and adding 2 letters to form 5-letter UNION would each be 1 point - unless not in list which would also be awarded a bonus point.
