R.I.P. Ray Illingworth died aged 89.

Ray Illingworth Yorkshire, Leicestershire and England cricketer died late 2021.

He brought England to 2 Ashes wins over Australia.

If a kind member of the forum would consider putting up a blue link it would be fitting, thank you in advance.

As an aside: I have a love of cricket, but wouldn't know the finer points. I like sitting so I can see mid-wicket eg sideways on to appreciate the bowlers. My dad always said Ray Illingworth brings himself on too late to bowl then he gets wickets ... = ... if that reads right.

I wasplaying in the under 18 league cricket for town team and having a trial for Lancashire schoolboys at a time when England had a decent team. Ray was captain when we were able to beat the Aussies

So RIP Mr Illingworth ☹️

@jonsie I understand Yorkshire CCC County Cricket Club have sacked most of their staff after recent allegations of 'abuse'. I believe a new chairman has been appointed.
