Waiting for God, haven't seen it in ages - Stephanie Cole on top form, as ever, and the late Graham Crowden.
I also think Stephanie Cole shines in a favourite radio series, Cabin Pressure, with the excellent wit of John Finnemore and alongside John and Roger Allam and Benedict Cumberbatch.
https://m.soundcloud.com/shanglitterbombed/cabin-pressure-s02-e02-gdansk
See, post 5 and I have already gone off-topic 🙄

Hi everyone

You might think we already have a couple of movie/series threads. But as @Cleoriff noticed, we don't have a thread where we can all chat about general TV and all the series, films and shows you discover and love. So, here it is!

Drop your recent watching and your recommendations in this thread. And maybe you will find a few things that you haven't watched yourself yet?

Keep the remote on the ready

I think it was a really great idea @Mi-Amigo, we have been really missing that! And as I only came to the UK about 5 years ago, there is loads of shows I don't know and never heard of! So actually this is a bit selfish as I will steal all of you guys' favourite shows and watch them

The ones you recommended, where do you usually watch them? Are they just on daytime telly?

Line of Duty is my favourite series and the last one just ended with an dumb finale, so all fans are hoping for another series.

Mare of Eastown (with Kate Winslet) is available for download now from Sky. Absolutely superb drama.

Great to see Kate playing a grumpy cop with all sorts of problems at home. She is investigating two murders. A twist at the end.

Innocent (with Katherine Kelly) was on ITV, also excellent. She plays a teacher who was jailed for 5 years for the murder of a pupil. She was innocent of all charges. Released when other evidence comes to light. Then the hunt is on to find the real killer. Also available for download

The Pact on BBC . A great drama about a group of women who work at a canning factory and have a young boss who is obnoxious. At the end of a party they bundle the drunken boss into the boot of the car and leave him in the woods. They have second thoughts and go back to get him, only to find him strangled. Available for download

The Syndicate (series 4) A group of people working at a dog kennel win £17,000,000 on the lottery. However, they are told they have won £500 by the shopowners boyfriend. He takes the ticket, claims the money and flies off to Monaco with his beloved dog. Written by the excellent Kay Mellor, it's funny, romantic and all works out well in the end..

The Serpent (based on a real life story) It is based on the crimes of serial killer Charles Sobhraj, who murdered young tourists between 1975 and 2000. Originally on BBC and now on Netflix.

We have had some real good TV this year. It doesn't matter that I love Emmerdale and Corrie and am currently watching the Masked dancer.....I also enjoy a damn good drama.

Brilliant recommendations @Cleoriff! I am watching Kate Winslet's series now but previously watched The Serpent and it's amazing! Our problem with Line of Duty is that we saw so many spoilers on Gogglebox that we ended up not watching it anymore

But all three, Innocent, The Pact and The Syndicate sound just like the kind of TV I like, so I will definitely look them up and hopefully one of them will be my weekend watch

One of the best sit-coms of all time Come think of it, a lot of stuff on that channel is good value.

I don't bother with mainstream TV these days bar the sport/Strictly/DOI/Masked Singer as most modern programming tends to be more graphic than ever with some semblence of a plot thrown in. Not that the streaming services are any better but I can skip those er, parts . Though the main TV viewing with the family ends up being some crime drama of some kind most nights. Poirot is exceptionally good (on ITV3) and doesn't need much introduction so enjoy.

Working from home, I have taken to watching the American custom car shows at lunchtime which is great to see the craftmanship and detail being done (on DMAX or whatever they've renamed it to this year). Early series of Wheeler Dealers are great to see - latter series in the US not so good - and quite educational if you like cars!

Love One Foot in The Grave. Watched it more than once as well, so there's a limit in my opinion.

Fawlty Towers was great TV before everything became too PC to watch. No Ofcom complaints the first time round. now you just know there will be 100's.

Someone always finds something to be offended at.

Last week I watched The Supervet (Noel Fitzpatrick) in a one off special called Saving My Dog.

No secret that I love this vet. Pity he never took up a career in orthopaedics (for humans)

Noel's beloved dog Keira was run over and he was in bits. He decided to to the surgery himself. Brave man. Anyway, Keira recovered well.

Also watching Chernobyl again. They made the film and now showing it in series format on Sky Atlantic.

Have to say I love Would I Lie to You. On BBC. Two panels who have to tell the most outrageous lies and the other panel have to guess whether it's true or false. Team Captains are Lee Mack and David Mitchell. The presenter is Rob Brydon. Hilarious.

At first glance it does sound and look boring but in fact it is a very educational program that kids should be forced to watch. Worth watching at any age as it will give you some idea of the complexity of mass producing food for the masses and getting it to the shops.

After 12 months in hospital, couple of years sat home recovering and a year plus in lockdown, I've spent so much time either lying down or stuck in front of a tv set trying to keep entertained that I can't bear to look at any more old re-runs of flowery twots, OFITG or endless Sky rehashed-to-death channels

Reality tv - I'd rather stab my own testicles with a rusty screwdriver!

Game shows, talent shows, dancing either on ice or across the kitchen floor - meh!

Just binge watched The Syndicate which was good clean fun and I enjoyed it

I do like most motoring shows, especially restorations which was something I did as a sideline to my chosen profession of motor vehicle mechanic, when mechanics were proper mechanics and not modern 'technicians'.

Agree with you @Cleoriff and I am also a big fan of Would I Lie To You. A laugh out loud programme especially more so when Bob Mortimer is on Lee Mack's team. Plenty of re-runs on Dave TV.

Cornflakes? Really? Oh dear @sheepdog !

It's the finale of The Masked Dancer tonight. I didn't want to like this, in the same way, I didn't want to like The Masked Singer but it really draws you in. (or at least two of us...me and @Mi-Amigo )

Of course I will also be watching Formula 1 on Sky Sports. Practice 3 and Qualifying. I shall turn off straight after as I can't bear to listen to the pundits wondering what the hell has happened to Mercedes!

As I haven't checked the TV yet, not sure what else I will be watching although we did download Spooks 2 days ago. One of my favourite series of all time back in the day. A very brave series when it was first made, about MI5/MI6 and the CIA. Obviously about a group of spies who foil all sorts of terrorist plots. Was openly ridiculed by the real MI5 when it first aired. They stated 'working for MI5 was nothing like that' (Yeah well they would say that wouldn't they?)
