with caramelised onions, roasted cashew nuts and raisins

Yoghurt with finely chopped cucumber and mint

Tomato Sambal with chillies mint and lemon

Bombay Potatoes

Chutney: Sweet Mango

Large plate of Papadums

Dessert

Fresh Mango

Gulab Jamuns

Bottle of wine or 2 with meal then:

Coffee and more Gulab Jamuns and the very

What a glorious meal, I can feel my mouth watering already.Chicken Madras is a favourite in this house so would enjoy it all. Nice to finish off with those Godiva chocolates

No I don't make those too fiddly best bought from Indian Quarter ~ they have such delights.

Another favorite is Coconut Ice ~ No ice looks like ice ....

Nothing better ~ I make a large pot ~ of Madras and put into freezer in small containers and enjoy another day. Put with fresh rice. My favorite rice is basmati.

Trick to cooking basmati rice is ~

I measure in a small plastic cup ~ then put rice into jug of just warm water stir gently once, leave over day.

Then rinse rice in cold fresh water drain and put rice into pan of boiling water stir once only takes a few minutes watch carefully as easily over-cooked. Drain and rinse once then I leave it in colander for bit to dry off ~ whilst getting table ready or preparing side dishes. That is plain rice ~ wedding rice is cooked with saffron in the boiling water (or you can use a small spoon of tumeric )~ but same method all other ingredients added after cooking.

The Samosas ~ nothing left ever!

What a great menu for Valentines Day. Even though I`m on my own and a vegetarian, I`d certainly enjoy having the rice, side dishes, potatoes, and mango cutney. Could you tell me what the sweet is? Not heard of it before and I`m curious...

Gulab Jamuns ~ A cherished festival dish

The are like a sweet dumpling made with full cream milk powder sugar rose water saffron strands pistacho nuts etc. fried gently in Ghee (clarified butter) and served with cardamom syrup

Absolutely fantastic ~

There are many recipes for vegetarians

and they are all very very wonderful...I am hungry now

Sounds like something I`d enjoy. I`ll take to check local deliveries to see if they have it on their menu to try at some point.

Yes, there are loads of lovely vegetarian Indian food which I enjoy and of course Birmingham is the "home" of the balti

Oh @TallTrees that looks good. The only thing missing is a huge wedge of naan bread to soak up the excess gravy and clean the plates properly.

Indian food, the hotter the better, is my favourite and when eating out it's usually an Indian restaurant that is visited. Sadly of late, there's not been too many chances to eat out, but hopefully in the not too distant future things will change for us all. It's making me hungry looking at your presentation.

Luckily we have 3 Indian restaurants by us which offer takeaway and free delivery, so we never miss out.

Also a wonderful real Ghurka restaurant in town who also offer free takeaway.

Owned by Om Gurung MBE, a Sergeant Major in the Ghurka regiment, who fought in the Falklands. He handed the keys of Hong Kong over to the Chinese when it was no longer a British Colony.

There you go, a bit of history as well as info on Indian or Ghurka takeways in the area. ...
