Hey everyone,

So the Oscar nominations are here again and it looks like a great line up for the awards!

There were a few surprises this year with chirstopher Nolan getting his first nomination for Best Director and Logan up for Best Adapted Screenplay. Meryl Streep also broke her own record for nominations with a grand total of 21!

If honest @Martin-O2 I haven't seen any of the films. I have seen excerpts of a few of them

So I will say I think The Darkest Hour should come in for a few awards.

Gary Oldmans transformation into Winston Churchill is remarkable...as his interpretation of the great man.

So probably Gary Oldman = Best actor, Best film = Darkest Hour, Best Costume and Makeup = Darkest Hour.

I suspect Blade Runner will be in the running...as well as the remarkable Dunkirk

Regular film goers will have their own choice. I can only post on what I have seen...

I'm with @Cleoriff on The Darkest Hour and Gary Oldman getting some awards. I'm a big fan of Gary Oldman who I think is an amazing actor. His Winston Churchill is the best I've ever seen.

Best visual effects Kong: Skull Island, Star Wars:The Last Jedi or War for the Planet of the Apes. Seen all 3 and would be happy to see any one of them win.

Best Costume Design - Beauty and the Beast 😊

Not seen the other films nominated nor am I that clued up on some of the technical awards. But I predict The Darkest Hour and Dunkirk are going to collect a few gongs.

Every time the Oscars come round I’ve never heard of them.. but I always try to watch the Best Picture winner after to see if the fuss is worth it..

La La Land definitely wasn’t worth it.

Having read the synopsis of a few of the films.. I’d like to see Three Billboards win.. Sounds right up my street..

and as actors go.. I’d like to see Sam Rockwell win. Liked him ever since I saw The Green Mile.

And Gary Oldman for best actor!

I do hope Gary Oldman does well this year. He's a fantastic Actor!

I've still not seen Blade Runner or Dunkirk yet. Both are high on my watch list. I'll try to get them done before the Oscars.

Did anyone see "Get Out" last year? Really good twist on the traditional horror and some brilliant performances from the cast!

It's one of the new films I own but have yet to watch. Thanks for the recommendation @Martin-O2 will definitely watch it next as I love a good horror film.

To be honest as an avid reader I thought I had read the book. I hadn't as it doesn't exist.

I have looked it up and certainly seems to be one I would enjoy....
