I've had the same thing happen and I'm disgusted that O2 are allowing fraud like this to happen. I like you called as soon as I noticed additional charges of just under £40 making my phone bills higher than normal. Despite calling O2 I still had money taken from my DD and was told by O2 representative that they couldn't resolve straight away as not back at work until 11am next day (didn't realise O2 was a one man band) eventually they did stop texts after I said it was unacceptable and said they contact 'text nation' so that I could be refunded and call me back.

I never received call back so called again and told I needed to contact 'text nation' direct a company I've never heard of! or email customer services (they conveniently have no number!)

Crazy that O2 can just take money from you without warning and then accept no responsibility for fraud!

Very unhappy with O2s appalling customer service!

For all these scam sms issues you need to contact the premium rate requlator www.phonepayplus.org.uk as they set the rules o2 have to abide to .

People need to realise that intentionally or not they are subscribing to these services.
O2 or any other network will just bill for usage.
It's not the networks problem to sort out.

These aren't a scam to some people. They happily subscribe knowing the cost (Particularly to gaming websites). It's called freedom of choice. Not what you want to hear I am sure but just dont click on links. If you can prove you did this inadvertently then you may get refunded. By the way this isn't just an O2 issue...all networks have the same 'problem'...

Look up the short code on PhonePayPlus and you will find contact details for the company billing you. It's your responsibility to cancel, you subscribed in the first place. How are O2 to know you didn't want to subscribe.

It's the companies and websites involved that are scammers not O2. People need to be responsible for their own actions sometimes.
