    <description>&lt;P&gt;@Anonymous - well done - seems you're as persistent as I am......&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;In my younger years, I would probably have had a bit of a rant, got nowhere, and walked away with a bit of a sulk on&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now I'm (ahem) rather more mature, I tend to think before I act - I find that sometimes, a gentle, polite request will keep the "enemy" on-side for far longer than going in all guns blazing. Its much easier to start gently and then get tough, rather than the other way round.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Also, I find that giving people an "either / or" choice keeps matters simple and leaves them with zero ambiguity - so, phrases like:-&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"&lt;EM&gt;I'd like either the O2 Open discount, or the no up-front charge offer - don't mind which&lt;/EM&gt;"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;or&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"&lt;EM&gt;you can either give me the discount you've advertised, or I'll return both iPads under the 14-day cooling-off notice and go over the road to the Vodafone shop&lt;/EM&gt;"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I never give three choices, as it takes too long to think about - always give two, where the choices are blindingly obvious, or are win/win for me.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;My final method is to "tell, not ask" - on occasion, I don't say "&lt;EM&gt;what are you going to do about it?&lt;/EM&gt;", and I use "&lt;EM&gt;this is what you are going to do - ...&lt;/EM&gt;"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Doesn't always work, but I find that the current economic climate means that commercial organisations are increasing desperate to hold onto customers that they've spent fortunes attracting, so they're willing to work fairly hard to keep them (but only when pushed)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hopefully, this little escapade will result in a some better product training for the shop staff, but I'm not going to hold my breath...&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi all&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've done some searching around this discussion borad and found a few posts that suggest that the O2 Open Discount has been given on the iPad Air 2&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've just had a text from O2 to say that " the iPad 2 and iPad Mini 3 are not currently eligible", despite the staff at the Birmingham Bull Ring store saying it would be&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;There's nothing in the O2 Open T&amp;amp;Cs that say that certain products are excluded&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Given that I have three phone contracts with O2 and that my son and I signed up for two iPad Airs last Saturday, I expected a little more in respect of customer retention effort (or was that my first mistake?...)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any thoughts?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks in advance&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;N&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Damn, and indeed, blast....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;TBH, its not a huge issue, just an irritation. IIRC, the discount only applied to the airtime contract, which was only a tenner a month (but even after the discount it was roughly the same cost as my existing airtime contract on my iPad 1 with Three)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I think I'm justified in not having seen the O2Open FAQs (didn't even know they existed) but its unforgiveable for the shop staff not to be aware. The girl that dealt with us on Saturday was otherwise very knowledgable of the O2 systems.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks for the swift replies folks&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I'm back....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;insult has just been added to injury....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When I originally went into the O2 shop, I asked about the special offer on iPads for existing O2 customers - I'd logged on to "My O2" to check my tarrifs on my contracts and I'd noticed an offer of "up to £83.99 off the up-front cost"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When I visited the branch, they claimed this offer had finished, and steered me towards the O2 Open discount instead (and for which privilege, I paid the £50 up-front cost of the iPad)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've just checked that my Mobile Broadband tarrif has been set up correctly which it has, even though it shows me a "last bill" from one of the mobile contracts....) - and guess what's there - yup, an offer of up to £83.99 off the up-front cost of an Ipad&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Very happy with my shiny new iPad - much less happy with having forked out £100 (my son and I bought an iPad each - we could have done both on my account and saved a decent chunk of cash)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If there's anyone reading this thread from O2 customer services, I would suggest they call me, otherwise someone at the Birmingham branch is going to have to deal with me when I get there on Saturday lunchtime&lt;/P&gt;</description>

Visit your nearest store for further details.&amp;nbsp;"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;This is just a variation on the £83.99 offer I'd seen that involved a 3GB airtime contract instead.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I've also twigged that by getting my son to buy an iPad Air 2, I should have been offered the chance to "introduce a friend and get £40 of vouchers"&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I wouldn't want to be the manager of the Birmingham branch on Saturday, although to be fair, if he gives me my 2 x £50 back, I'll be happy.       <description>&lt;P&gt;Update - spoke to the manager last night (who it turns out was the knowledgable girl that served me on Saturday)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;She was completely unaware that the iPad Air2 (and other devices) were excluded from O2 Open discount - she'd never seen the FAQ page on the O2 Open discount website&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I reminded her that the discounts that I originally enquired about were still being advertised, and that despite being entitled to TWO discounts (no up front on the iPads AND I should have been given the O2 Open discount on the two phone contracts I renewed on Saturday) - I ended up being given the deal that I would have got if I'd never been an O2 customer before&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Tonight, I got a call from Chris Dunn (not sure of his position) who asked me to send him evidence of the "no up-front" deals - I had managed to put a 64GB iPad into my basket over the weekend and it was still there, proudly displaying no up-front costs - emailed him a copy&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So - I may be getting somewhere - will report back when I hear more&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;N&lt;/P&gt;</description>
