Every since the high winds in late December we have had bad coverage. I have a personal phone (iphone 5) and business phone (blackberry) and my Girlfriend has a Nokia. I can even walk to the shop where the mast is and the coverage is pants. Live results report that the mast is down. Has been all January! WTF can't you fix it Thing is. Back in the old days you could phone and report the issue. Not any more. It's easier to change. I think Vodafone still operates a good phone signal everywhere. I'm off.

Hi.

We are all customers here like you apart from a couple of site managers employed by O2.

I know how frustrating this can be. I did have intermittent signal last year for approx 3 weeks, while O2 carried out repairs.

They do not give out time scales for repairs ,but say they will repair as quickly as they can.

Factors such as parts and getting onto land to carry out the work etc can be a factor.

If you keep a note of the dates etc and then speak to CS they may offer some form of goodwill for the downtime.

Take into account they don't have to offer anything as per their t&c saying its not a fault free service they offer.

Here is the complaint form if you wish to put your thoughts in writing

http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),CASE=13668

I understand this does not cure your current issue but at least you may recoup some of the costs from your monthly amount you've been paying if your on a monthly contract.

You can contact 02 in several ways.

202 from your mobile when in signal.

From a landline 0844 809 0202 > 5p / min.

E mail ; https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help

Online Live Chat ; http://www.o2.co.uk/mobile/contactus

These are all in the 'contact us' tab at the bottom of the forum page.

If you do wish to leave then I would suggest obtaining some payg SIM cards from the networks your interested in and try them out for a week where you live, work and commute to ensure their coverage is acceptable. Remember they won't offer fault free coverage either.

You can unlock your phone for free on a pay monthly contract, so you can try out other payg SIM cards. Unless your using an iPhone 5s or 5c in a refresh plan as you would need to pay off the plan to get the unlocking solution.

Unlock form ; https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset%20Unlocking%20Form

Let us know how you get in and take care.

You should try living in (mid) Wales, O2 only has reliable (sort of) indoor and outdoor G2 service here, G3 if you go outside and no G4 at all. All mobile phone companies seem to be intent on squeezing as much money from customers as poss. whilst only guaranteeing reliable service within a short distance of large conurbations. Don't seem to realise that an awful lot of people need to live and work 'in the sticks' as they say.

It depends on their interpretation of what population is.

Is there a minimum amount of people within a certain square mileage for it to be considered populated?

O2 being very coy on this question. I've asked it many a time on various different platforms but not one answer.

I live in AL4 and spend a lot of my time in Jersey Farm and Marshalswick.

The network performance began to go down hill late in 2013 but was not great prior to that.

I simply do not believe the coverage maps that are published - they do not reflect the reality.

I have simply lost cound of the number of failed calls, failed to send text messages, failed incoming calls and late delivered text and other messages.

My iPhone is often searching, or showing no signal or E or GPRS in fact anything but 3G. It does not seem to matter if I am indoors or outdoors althongh inside is even worse.

I have made about 10 calls to o2 customer support but i am constantly being tod that the tenchical issues that did exist around Christmas are repaired.

Well I have seen no improvement whatsoever. My phone works very well in other places. Have treid a new SIM - not any better.

I am at my wits end and will probably be changing to vodafone at the first opportunity. Noone I know has anything like the same issues with vodafone in this area or even EE.

This is probably one of the most populated areas of St Albans and its awful.

Dont even get me started on the drve to Wheathampstead through Sandridge from Jersey Farm.

Mike
