Back when I used to post on Sheffield Forum, there were 2smiley icons that were very popular, well they were used a lot by me anyway... Rant and loopy.

I've downloaded the images, I can email them to Toby if you want?

Not that easy, Richard. I've got all the cool smileys we could possibly want but the platform isn't flexible enough for this.

Sadly this is true. A phpBB board would be nice but I dont think were going to be changing forum software anytime soon.

There must be better options than cats and robots tho

Oh no phpBB! Nonononono. Nor yaf. There are better platforms out there! Let me see if what I can do, can't promise anything quick though (and no, I'm suggesting moving from Lithium. No.)

I agree they're terrible, but we have only had this version of the forum since April 2012 so I can't see any changes being made yet.

There have been a few updates, Perksie, unfortunately they impacted the backend rather than the user experience and you haven't seen much. Doesn't help you, I know.

Sadly the only visible changes I have seen are feature removals, the "user experience" has never quite landed.

Can't argue that. We're trying to change some major annoying parts, once they're fixed we can focus on other features. As I said, there are some platform constraints (as with every platform) but at least we can see what we can improve.

I quite like phpBB. For years I have moderated on football365's forum which is phpBB (although very restricted and clean looking - no signatures, avatars etc) and its great.

Btw thanks for entertaining the idea of change. I did really only start this thread as a half-joke, the emoticons are crap but they dont bother me that much - I just dont use them.
