I too am looking to buy a pay and go Iphone from the apple store (mainly because it actually has them in stock)

I have been ringing o2 stores to check the stock of iphones and one girl I spoke to (who worked at the manchester shop) actually suggested I can go and buy one from apple because they have more stock. I asked her would I then be able to insure it if I went into an o2 shop. At first she said "yeh we can do that, just bring your reciept" but then she seemed to talk to someone (presumably a manager) and then came back and said they wouldnt be able to do that and I would have to buy the phone through the o2 shop.

Having heard her change her mind its confused me a bit. She didnt sound too sure and definate when she was talking about it so its made me nervous to go and buy an Iphone and then not be able to insure it.

Which way is it? Would I be able to take the paperwork I recieve from the apple store and get it insured? Or would o2 turn me down for the insurance because it wasnt bought through them?

I sold my iPhone 3G. My contract was still running so I bought a 3GS on Pay&Go from the Apple Store.

I gave O2 customer service a call. The man simply asked for the new handset's IMEI number and added it to the database.

Good luck!

Wanty,

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one!
whilst I apprecitate you may work with o2 in some capacity I have the insurance?!!

Both o2 and the underwriters of the insurance have to conform with certain FSA regulations so I wont take luck to be any sort of a factor when it comes to my insurance.

When I was offered the insurance from carphone warehouse they also had a section which stated it covered your phone and accessories purchased from carphone warehouse, I put it to you that o2, just like carphone warehouse will not provide cover for accessories purchased elsewhere ands thats where your argument holds the majority of its weight.

Perhaps someone from o2 or the insurance company that provides their insurance will settle this one for us Wanty?!

bet you a months insurance!
