Increasing capacity of emails

I'm trying to email and attachment that is 154MB but get an error message saying it exceeds the allowable size. How do I increase that 'allowable' size?

As far as I know you cannot

you could use a file sharing site or yet he likes of Dropbox to upload to the web and then share the link to the file

Have you considered compressing the file?

Use somthing like winrar or winzip

Depending on the file type you could easily knock 60% off the file size. You could also split the zipped file into multiple parts to be recombined on the other end.

Another option is, breaking up archves into fixed segments. 500MB with 10 files @ 50MB each for example.

I think the biggest size any email server will take is around 25mb. Anything more and they'd all have servers overloaded and crashing all the time. Dropbox or Google Drive are designed for sharing larger files.
