Missed calls from mobile numbers starting 07734 953 ***

Hello,

I'm getting a lot of missed calls from mobile numbers and when I ring back the cut off straight away, the weird thing is that the numbers are 07734 953 xxx, 07734 953 xxx, 07734 953 xxx which look very close together. Does anyone know if these numbers are used as part of a scam?

I did the same and googled the numbers, that website just shows available numbers from that region. I think it must a company cold calling, but I have heard that if you call back you get charged £25?

The ppi claim numbers I answered a call to 1 of them last Friday and told them to stop calling me, I have received loads in the past few weeks.

Best bet is just not answer them at all to be honest and just ignore them, the texts messages about ppi and accident claims are also annoying.

I block all unknown telephone numbers and all the so-called PPI calls, which I have since intercepted are blocked. All PPI texts including 10 variations of the phrase are also blocked.

I find it terrible that I have to do this in the first place. Also why should I register and pay a company for the rejection of telephone calls I don't want. At the end of the day, if I want to reclaim PPI I'll contact them not the other way round.

The best thing about the texts and ppi calls is I have never had any ppi to claim Or have I had a accident to claim for.

I got a text about an accident I had and a cheque waiting for me. Must have been one hell of an accident if I can't remember it and neither can my family!

As I have said many times report the numbers to the ico then they can act against the companies

Using your phone for SPAM purposes like this is against the T&Cs and this is why you should report it whenever it happens so O2 are aware. Bring it to their attention and they can.

I always forward these kind of messages onto spam but they still come through so its obvious to me o2 are not doing much about it

I don't think forwarding messages to "SPAM" sends them to O2. The 7726 code works off any network so I assume they get routed to a central database actioned by an independent body....

Well the reply you get is from o2 saying they have received your spam report and its been passed to their customer services so that suggests to me that it is o2

How can I stop receiving messages from these organisations?
You can report them to your network operator, who may be able to prevent further spam from the originating number. Unfortunately as the numbers often change, your network provider cannot guarantee to stop all unsolicited messages. You can either contact your network operator’s customer services, or forward spam text messages to 7726 (If you are a Vodafone user, forward to 87726 instead).

It's reported that 1/2 million spam reports in France resulted in the disconnection of 300 spammers, and many more cease-and-desist orders were sent.[15]

Some spam defense measures depend on detection, and there are two developments in that area: a GSMA pilot spam reporting program, and the development of Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standards for mobile spam reporting. In February 2010,[16] the GSM Association has announced a pilot program that will allow subscribers to report SMS spam by forwarding it to short code '7726' which spells "SPAM" on most phones. AT&T Mobility, Korea Telecom, and SFR announced their participation. Following the pilot, a number of other mobile operators have joined the GSMA's Spam Reporting Service program.
