Be aware O2 scam(switch from Pay as you go to Pay Monthly)!!!

O2 running this offer for a long time Pay as you go customer(you have to be with them at least 6 months I believe) who willing to switch to a 12 month contract.Reluctantly but i went for the offer(full pay first month, secound month double discount 26 pounds, and the rest of the 9 months single 13 pound off the bill plus a free phone not a latest one of course).

I signed up for the contract online, basically you type your old Pay as You go number in if you eligible they put you through the usual questionaries.the discount show up in the first pages but when you complete the contract there is no sign of your "discount".

i tried to call customer services (202 always down of course) so I went to the local store they reassured me i should get the discount.

Just a week before my second payment(due to the double discount) checked my o2 account of course no sign of discount.Customers services number down just like always i managed to chat with a teammember who also reassured me it was just a system failer put my request through i should get my discount in the next couple of days.

Of course nothing happend, same chatting taken place just before the payment due same result, went to store store manager didnt care too much sorry we cant do anything about it,so rush to the bank and cancel my direct debit.

I think it surley a scam o2 staff didnt look suprised and they didnt care at all they know whats going on i wasnt the first idiot who felt in their trap.

So be aware try not to go for any of their offer tried to avoid o2 if you can

It's not a scam, your discount would have appeared in the second or third bill.

Cancelling your direct debit is not a good move as it will show on your credit rating as a default and possibly cause you problems when you need credit in the future.

I would re-instate it and be a little more patient, if there is a mistake O2 will put it right for you.

when customer services recover from the iphone5 launch ring them and discuss it.

You did follow the correct procedures including moving the old payg number to the new pay monthly sim? There were a few posts about this before.

I too swapped from pay and go to pay monthly with this scheme last month and didn't realise the keeping your old number was compulsory, I did look at the form it it seemed to confusing and I could not be without service for 24 hours as have to be able to be reached at any time due to my disabled mother needing to contact me 2nd bill has arrived whichi was expecting to be £16 and instead it's £29 does this mean I'm going to be paying double what I wanted to because I didn't change my number 😞 gutted now wish I had stayed as payg customer!

I took up this offer and transferred my old new number to the new phone. I received a letter setting out how the contract would work, but four months later the credit that should on my bill each month to give the offer price still isn't sorted. I have spoken to O2 customer services each time I get an incorrect bill and everytime they assure me it will be sorted by next month - but it isn't! I am getting really frustrated with it now as the ongoing issues make no sense. It's a real shame as I have found O2 to be really good in the past.

(I transferred mine when I moved to contract).

Also if the coverage is poor you should think about changing to a network which works for you

Coverage between contract and PAYG is the same so if you have a problem it may be because of a local issue?
http://status.o2.co.uk/
However,if you moved from another network it would explain the difference and the loss of credit.
