O2 SURpriSes just became 100% worse

O2 SURpriSes just became 100% worse, which was hard to top. Some of the distributors I mean SUPPLIERS O2 are using are charging absolutely extortionate prices. The tat they're offering as part of 02's top-up rewards scheme is almost twice the price against most retail outlets or online stores pricing.
Why are 02 even bothering with their surprises promo? Genuinely, Im curious, why bother? Do they really think their customers are that stupid?

They have proof that people are willing to pay up front the remainder of their contracts then sign on for worse T&C's for a shiny new iphone. But that's probably diverging from the real complaint. :robotwink:
As a matter of interest, what are the "prizes" now being offered?

I remember when a £15 top up got me about oooh 15 minutes from cellnet to one 2 one mobiles

I think the OP is talking about O2 Surprises (the pay and go version). Although why he chose to call them O2 prizes I'm not sure. Also I think by distributor he means supplier.
When you top-up, as well as your free allowance etc, you also get a choice of surprise. These used to be network prizes like extra minutes or texts, but people complained so they now offer real world surprises like money off vouchers. I suspect the OP is complaining that an offer he chose was still more expensive than you could get elsewhere.

I don't understand why people complain about something that is a free extra. If there was a charge for the surprises then I'd get it, but it's something the company don't have to offer. I don't complain to Asda when their monthly magazine has discounts for products I don't like.

Excuse me, I meant O2 SURPRISES. I called them prizes because I wanted someone to make a big deal out of the fact I phrased something incorrectly. Quite why I did this, I'm not sure? Boredom? It certainly got me thinking and was worth you pointing out. If you wanted to get extra especially pedantic over this, you could also nit-pick up on the fact it makes no grammatical sense to quote percentages too....

I don't understand why people find it so difficult to understand me ...I guess it's because I keep phrasing everything incorrectly. It isn’t a " free extra ". These money off vouchers (codes, whatever you want to call them) are a con. As I stated previously, the items those SUPPLIERS are offering can be found elsewhere at half the cost. The vouchers are a waste of time and make no valid difference - nobody is saving any money here or getting anything for free.
I hope I explained myself properly this time.... It is supposed to be a REWARD scheme, right ?

Same applies to my Asda problem, I might be able to get the my item much cheaper elsewhere. It's an offer to you; you're under no obligation to use it, if you were then I would agree it is a con.

They are just a gimmick to get people to use the forum to complain about the surprises because they really do think people are that stupid

Its not nit-picking, it wasn't clear what you where talking about. Which is why some posters thought you were talking about contract prices and I thought (correctly it seems) you were talking about O2 surprises.
Incidentally, O2 rewards and surprises are completely separate.

I thought the idea of surprises was supposed to be a reward scheme, not an offer. At least, it used to be - when O2 were actually offering customers something. Even if the free texts or talktime didn't extend beyond 24 hours, it was more useful than a gross overpriced dominos pizza. There is the matter of a slight economic crisis at the moment for some of us, some of us are at home in the middle of the day typing about this...
You really dont get anything for free anymore.

I agree they are terrible now, and if O2 think I am going to pay more just to get a better surprise they have another think coming, why pay extra for more rubbish. I haven't collected the last two surprises as they were of no use or interest to me at all.
I thought they overhauled it to make it better...its definately worse!
