My Phone battery is dying. Help!?

Hi. I have a Sony Ericsson W100i Spiro and I think the battery might be dying. The past couple of nights I have fully charged it to 100%, and then woke up the next day to find it at 20-25%. This shouldn’t be happening and it’s only started the past couple of days.
I want to know if there’s anything I can do to stop it, without leaving the phone on charge 24/7, or do I need to get a new battery for the phone? If so how do I go about it?

How old is the battery and how often has it been charged? I am assuming, like most batteries, their capacity to hold charge decreases in time/use, which would explain the rapid loss of charge and would suggest you may need a new one.
Has it been gradual though, as it would be unusual to go from being able to hold charge for days to suddenly losing 75% over night?

The phone is nearly 6 months old. I charge it about twice a week, depending on how much I have used it. And yeah I thought it was unusual too, but it has been about 75% the past 2 nights. I have charged it up before I have gone to bed, then woke up to find it at about 25% or so.

Hopefully someone will be able to provide you with some helpful info soon.
I would be concerned that a new battery might not solve the problem then, since it shouldn't be causing problems after just 6 months of use.
Is there perhaps anything that could be running on the phone in the background which could be causing the drain?

Try running it down completely to the point where it won't turn on then re-charge it. If the same happens then it's a gonner.

Don't do this. The Spiro has a lithium battery and you will damage it if you let it fully discharge (you should only deep discharge NiCad or occasionally NimH batteries). In fact the phone will shut down before the battery is completely empty, to prevent damage.
Lithium batteries benefit from charging often and little. Their life is reduced by leaving them charging for long periods, fully discharging or getting them hot.

There's nothing running in the background, not that I know off anyways. Is there anyway I can check?
I also noticed this evening the battery is running down faster then normal, or as it was. I charged up to 100% and I have used it for a few hours (Internet, Texting etc.) and it’s about 75% now. Usually it would be about 90% after the length of time in use. I am going to charge it now then leave it overnight again and see if the same thing happens again.

Thanks for the tip. Is there anything you would suggest? Or do you have any idea why its suddenly started happening?
